Social capitalism

Social capitalism

What is social capitalism you’re probably asking yourself? And how did I come up with this idea? Two months ago I came back home with a lot of anger in me. I had enough of this world where more than 70% of the population are suffering. Everyday we see it in our newspapers and on TV. What’s happening has humankind gone completely crazy. We are meant to be the most intelligent species on this earth and yet we do foolish things. It’s the 21 century and we are still fighting for pieces of land, resources and ideologies. Will humanity ever wake up from this nightmare? I wanted to do something but how? I felt so frustrated. My mother said you can do something. I know, I said i have many ideas but at the present moment I can’t do anything because I haven’t got enough influence and financial power. The next day ideas started coming to me and this is the first that I have accomplished. Not many businesses in South Africa are on the internet because of highly expensive fees they have to pay. Well, I said to myself I can use this opportunity. Let’s find a way to put businesses on the internet at an very affordable price and at the same time a percentage of these fees can help people. At first I wanted to help the education crises. Being bought up in Europe where education is free I thought it wasn’t right that in South Africa children have to pay. If you can’t have a education what are you going to do with you life? How are you meant to find a job or create a business? People complain that there is to much crime and unemployment in South Africa but if you where born in a rural area and have hardly any chances to get out of this vicious circle what will you do to survive and feed your family? Anything, even if you had to commit crimes.

I hope other businesses will follow this concept in the near future. Could you imagine if Coca-Cola said that every drink you bought from them, a percentage will go towards building drinking water infrastructure in countries where they need it. Or if Mc Donalds said that every meal you bought from them you are helping feed the world. Would there be anymore people dying of thirst or hunger, I think not.

As JFK put it “it’s not what your country can do for you, it’s what you can do for your country”

Let’s stop complaining and waiting for government and other leaders to change or world. We all can do something.

Interesting take, I hope it works out for you. Please post an update sometime if its feasible to do so, so that readers can see the impact of this.

Best of luck!
